Spring Networking Days
The goal of this three-day, post-spring semester program is to prepare Duke sophomores from all academic majors for the rigorous finance summer internship recruiting process in the fall of their junior year. All sophomores at Duke University are eligible to participate and are also encouraged (but not required) to enroll in ECON 256 Practical Financial Markets in the spring semester. The course provides a grounding in the practical, hands-on tools and knowledge required for careers in the financial markets, from corporate valuation techniques to risk-return analytics.
Representatives from nine to 10 sponsoring financial firms attend Spring Networking Days, hosting one-on-one resume reviews, mock interviews, group lunches, and receptions. In March, the Duke Financial Economics Center sends the sponsor firms the resumes of all participating sophomores, and the firms choose the students they wish to meet with in one-on-one sessions. All students are invited to lunches and receptions. See below for the typical schedule for each day of the program.
