| How have the flexibility, inter-disciplinary programs of study, and range of concentrations in the Economics master's program enriched your experience? | |||
| These characteristics of the master program in Economics at Duke has helped me to understand how different fields can be combined to solve almost any kind of problems. By the time I was in the program I learn how to relate Economics tools to solve finance problems, how to make research on public policy analysis and what I consider the most important benefit from the program was to learn working with people with different interests, goals and fields of study. | |||
| What are your long term goals? | |||
| After finishing my graduate studies I am planning on setting my own consulting firm or working for an international institute like OCDE, World Bank, IMF, etc. | |||
| What were your greatest disappointments with the program? | |||
| My greatest disappointments were the following: 1. Taking classes with undergrads (there are only two exclusive master courses in the program) 2. The clearly prefference in the economics department for PhD sutdents and undergrads setting as a last priority master students | |||
| Best advice for prospective students. | |||
| The best advice I can give to prospective students is the following. First, make your mind about what you want to do before comming to the master program. For example, if you are planning to work in the industry or consulting then Duke's program will be the best choice since you will be aloud to take courses at Fuqua School of Business, Law School and/or Public Policy. However, if what you want to do is pursue a PhD and take in the future and academic job then your utiliy maximizing strategy will be to go to a master program in Math, Statistics o any other highly quatitive program. |
