Black-White Earnings Gap Returns to 1950 Levels

After years of progress, the median earnings gap between black and white men has returned to what it was in 1950, according to new research by Professor Patrick Bayer and University of Chicago co-author Kerwin Kofi Charles. While salaries for upper-income black men have continued to climb since the 1960s, a starkly different picture appears for lower-income black men.
