Health Data
The new health data available in Census Research Data Centers (RDCs) is provided by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Both NCHS and AHRQ are government agencies charged with collecting high-quality data on our healthcare system and the health of our nation's citizens. This data is used both for research and policy purposes.
Both NCHS and AHRQ also have deal responsibility of disseminating data as widely as possible and protecting the confidentiality of respondents. To satisfy these competing responsibilities, NCHS and AHRQ both make confidential data available to qualified researchers through their Research Data Centers. In an effort to further expand access to confidential data, NCHS and AHRQ now allow access through the Census Bureau's network of RDCs. More information on this partnership is available here or here.
