**** April 12, 2003 Final Exam

The date and time for the final exam are
     Monday, April 28
     7 pm - 10 pm

The exam is closed book but you will be allowed two sheets of notes, 8 1/2 x 11, both sides.
The exam will cover all material in the course, i.e.., both Tauchen's and Eraker's parts.
 

**** February 25, 2003 The weather

There is some chance of bad weather on Wednesday.  The forecasts are are quite uncertain right now.  Please  check your e-mail and the course news page in case the weather gets very bad.
 

**** February 24, 2003

As I noted in class, you will be able to bring one sheet of notes, 8 1/2 x 11, both sides, to the midterm on February 26.

We will not have class Monday morning, February 17, because Duke has canceled classes until noon.  See you Wednesday morning.
 

**** January 31, 2003  Correction for Problem I-1 of Problem Set 4:

 You are to verify that the likelihood ratio (LR) test takes the form (14-25).
 
 

**** January 27, 2003  Note from Maxym:

Please note a point, which is relevant for Problems 3 and 8 of the current homework:
Iterated FGLS can be used to obtain the ML estimates.

If the direct MLE technique is used, you can find useful formulas on matrix calculus on p.840 (Appendix A).
 

**** January 26, 2003  Note about working in groups

As I said in class, you may work in groups of up to five to do the homework, but each student must turn in his/her own set of of answers.  I would urge you to be sure you can do the problem on your own, so as not to mislead yourself about your understanding of the material.
