Link to the Zellner Award for the best Ph.D. thesis dealing with an applied problem in Business and Economic Statistics:  The Zellner award is intended to recognize outstanding work by promising young researchers in the field.   The 2008 winner is Viktor Todorov, a former member of this group now on the faculty at Northwestern University; the 2007 award went to Panle Jia, "Entry and Competition in the Retail and Service Industries" a Yale University thesis. The 2006 award went to Philipp Schmidt-Dengler, for his thesis, "Empirical Analysis of Dynamic Models with Multiple Agents;" Stephen P. Ryan, a Duke University PhD student was one of two honorable mentions in 2006 for his thesis, "Environmental Regulation in a Concentrated Industry.” A list of previous winners along with the theses in electronic format are available at the link.

Other than Viktor-2008 Duke-associated faculty members, including Han Hong (now at Stanford) and Arie Beresteanu, have been winners or honorable mentions for this prestigious award.
