How does it affect me based on my matriculation year?

Can I still take Econ 208 in Summer of 2020?

Yes.  This will be the final time this course is offered, and it will still count toward the major.

Can I still take Stat 111 in Summer of 2020?

Yes.  This will be the final time this course is offered, and it will still count toward the major.

If I have credit for Stat 111, can I take Econ 204?

Yes.  If you have credit for this course or another currently-approved statistics course but have not yet taken Econ 208, then you can take Econ 204.  You may have to get a permission number from EcoTeach, however.

I haven’t taken any stats courses yet. Will I be able to use other Statistics courses instead of Econ 104 to satisfy the prerequisites for Econ 204?

In general, no.  Going forward, Economics 104 will be the only hardwired prereq accepted for Econ 204.  The DUS may accept other stats courses as a statistics prerequisite for Econ 204 on a case-by-case basis.

I am planning on double-majoring in Statistics and Economics. Can I use my Stats courses to satisfy the Econ 104 requirement?

When should I take Econ 104?

Basically, as soon as you have completed the math prerequisite.  Ideally, students should complete Economics 204 by the end of their sophomore year, so they should take Economics 104 sooner.

Can I transfer in credit for Econ 104 or 204 from another institution?

No.

Is there a deadline for taking Econ 104?

No, but there’s a deadline for taking Econ 204, and Econ 104 is a prerequisite.  See below.

Is there a deadline for taking Econ 204?

Yes, students must complete Econ 204 by the end of their junior year, or get DUS permission to take it later.  Ideally, students should complete Econ 204 by the end of sophomore year.
