Financial Markets in the Global Economy
Duke-in-NY Financial Markets & Institutions Program. Covers monetary policy/linkages between domestic/global financial markets. Review institutional background: Federal Reserve, European Central Bank, People's Bank of China, IMF and World Bank. Transmission mechanism of monetary/interest rate shocks is outlined. Study of determination of risk premiums on emerging market sovereigns, corporate bonds and equities by various risks. Guest lecturers from NERA, NFL, UBS, Warburg Pincus and other financial institutions. Pre-requisites: MATH202 or 212, STA101 or 111, ECON205D and ECON208D. One course.
