An interdisciplinary approach to asset management, providing introduction to a discipline that has wide-ranging implications for all businesses. Begins with an overview of portfolio management and valuation tools, then discussion of different investment vehicles (hedge funds, private equity, venture capital) and asset classes (real estate, fixed income, commodities, emerging markets, currencies). The course will conclude with an overview of the history of asset management (including market crises) as well as topics of current interest and likely future impact to investors. Course led by Prof. Jones; will include lectures from a number of investment professionals from DUMAC. Prerequisite: Economics 201D
