How has being an Economics graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"My degree in Economics from Duke prepared me incredibly well for the career path I chose in Finance. While the investment banks in that time often said they would hire students from any major, and I believe that is true from universities of Duke's caliber, I personally felt that having an economics background gave me a solid foundation in understanding the fundamentals underlying the global economy, which feed into the financial markets."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Economics programs? 

"I would recommend taking a wide array of courses in order to broaden their knowledge around the subject. I remember taking a Money and Banking course that was not only very interesting, but very relevant at the time given the financial crises that were occurring in the emerging markets."
