NBER-NSF Time Series Conference Held This Friday & Saturday

06 October 2010 12:00AM

Duke University is enthusiastic to host the 2010 NBER-NSF Time Series Conference. This conference is the premier international meeting on the statistical analysis of time series data and attracts leading researchers from around the world. It has been held annually since the late 1970s at universities in the United States, Asia and Europe.

This year's conference program highlights recent research contributions in the major fields of time series econometrics, including traditional time series tools, statistical methodology, macroeconometrics, forecasting, and financial econometrics.

More than 110 attendees from academia and central banks are expected to attend the conference at Duke.

"Many of our own Ph.D. students also signed up to participate to the event, and we believe they will learn a tremendous amount from the many papers and posters that will be presented," said Professor Barbara Rossi, who helped organize the conference.

The event will be held in the Social Sciences Building, home to the economics department, in Room 139.

Registration starts at noon on Friday with opening remarks beginning at 1:00 PM.

On Friday night before the conference dinner, a special organ recital by Robert Parkins will be given in Duke Chapel. Parkins will play a program that includes traditional pieces (Bach and Brahms) as well as his specialties (Spanish and Portuguese organ music).

The research presentations will continue throughout Saturday.

More details, including the schedule of speakers, can be found at the conference website.
