How has being an Economics graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Without the training and mentorship I received in the Economics Department, I would not been able or chosen to pursue my path as an academic economist. The combination of rigorous coursework and close interaction with faculty that the Department provides makes for an exceptional intellectual environment and springboard for those interested in pursuing research and teaching professionally."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Economics programs?

"If you may be interested in pursuing graduate training in economics, talk to your professors about research opportunities, what courses to take, and general thoughts about what being an academic economist and professional research entails. They --- along with older students --- are the best source of advice and eager to help."
