2009: Economics & History
Currently: Senior Manager, Corporate Development, General Motors — Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany
How has being an Economics graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?
"My economics degree provided valuable skills, career visibility, and a foot in the door to the investment banking / M&A advisory industry at an entry level after graduation. My Duke network also helped me land a great transition role in Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions for a Fortune 50 company after gaining 2.5 years of finance experience."
What advice would you give students in Economics?
"I would encourage students to look outside of the typical bulge bracket track directly after graduation if concerned with work/life balance. Many large public companies are pivoting toward hiring more undergraduates versus MBAs, as it gives manager a bit more runway to prepare new employees for more senior responsibilities and positions."
