International Trade

ECON 624

This is a graduate-level course in international economics with a focus on international trade. We will cover various models of international trade including the Hecksher-Ohlin model; the Ricardian model as well as its modern incarnation (Eaton and Kortum); models of trade based on increasing returns to scale; models of trade with heterogeneous firms; the gravity equation; quantitative models of trade; and the impact of trade on labor markets and inequality. It will be assumed that students have a very solid understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics at the graduate level. Prerequisite: Economics 601D and Economics 608D
