This is a second-year PhD course in advanced topics. It corresponds to the second-half of the international trade sequence of the economics PhD. Students are assumed to be comfortable with the first-year sequence in Micro, Macro and Econometrics. Taking the first- half of the international trade sequence of the economics PhD is recommended. The class covers a range of topics, including production networks, global value chains, foreign direct investment, firm boundaries and incomplete contracts, trade policy, geoeconomics, imperfect competition, and industrial policy.
Prerequisites
Pre-req: Students are required to have completed Econ 701D, 702D, 703D, 705D, 706D, and 707D. Open to Econ Ph.D. students only
