Course provides a thorough introduction to this newly popular investment strategy, primarily focusing on public equity markets. Discusses theoretical underpinnings of sustainable investing, addresses how company's business practices matter to society as a whole. Reviews the origins and development of sustainable investing over the last fifty years, defines key concepts and terms in the field and discusses investment case for sustainability. Students will learn about the many ways to invest sustainably and the research needed as part of the investment process. Course concludes with a discussion of the mainstreaming of sustainable investing, the backlash to it and greenwashing.
