Nobel Laureate in Economics George Akerlof to Speak April 25

The 2001 Nobel Laureate in Economics, George Akerlof of the University of California at Berkeley, will visit the Department of Economics this week. Akerlof will give a lecture on April 25 at 4:30pm in Gross Hall 107. Economic Research initiatives at Duke (ERID) is one of the sponsors of this event. 

Akerlof's talk is titled "Phishing for Phools." His recent research explores connections between individuals’ decision biases and larger economic phenomena.

In 2010, Duke Economics Professor Rachel Kranton and Akerlof published a book together called "Identity Economics." The co-authors have been collaborating on research for more than 12 years. 

Akerlof's lecture is open to the public and campus community. No registration required. A casual reception immediately follows the event.
