Ph.D. Student Wins Rising Star Award at the Chinese Economists Society Annual Meeting

Kelly Kaili Yang, who is currently completing her Ph.D. at Duke Economics was recently presented with the Rising Star Award at the Chinese Economists Society Annual Meeting at the University of Oklahoma. 

Yang, who also earned her Master's degree from Duke Economics in 2017, studies industrial organization, health economics, and international trade, with a focus on technology adoption and quality upgrading. 

The Gregory Rising Star Award is given annually to promising Chinese Ph.D. students. 

Yang was joined at the conference by her mentor and professor Daniel Yi Xu, who was also the keynote speaker at the conference. Yang has worked with Xu as a research assistant, co-author, and he is co-chair of her dissertation committee. 

She graduates this May and will be joining Kelley School of Business at Indiana University as Assistant Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy. 

Yang said she feels "honored" to receive the award.
